EQUALIZING X DISTORT June 2006

Slug & Lettuce #89 Autumn 2006

SAIGON DISTRESS SIGNAL - DARKNESS LP When I hear someone say "Toronto's version of Trag-core", well I'm all ears, cause unlike some who've gotten irritated with constant comparisons or copy style, I for one can not get enough of the dark punk or the apocalyptic punk, or the "trag-core". This starts out awesomely, with a dark heavy essence, an eerie weaving guitar, and a double bass drum, all in a slowish swooing tempo. A perfect introduction for my ears. And to be fair to the band, I don't think this really sounds all that like Tragedy. What they do sound like is a combination of the influences of various Swedish d-beat bands with the modern concoction of heaviness, pummeling beats and weaving guitars. And I for one absolutely LOVE this!! There is even a tree on the cover. (-Chris) *****

 Bio

Saigon Distress Signal is a hardcore band from Toronto, Ontario. We play loud aggressive music. Our lyrics do not touch base with any singular theme. We recorded a demo in August 2004 and have made various recordings since.

Discography: Demo, Aug. 2004 Distort Toronto Vol. 1 Compilation, April 2005

Members of Saigon Distress Signal also appear in Concrete Tank, SMR, Disgrunge, Fresh MC Rickis and DJD, and formerly of Rebels With A Cause and Brinks Of Madness.

"Saigon Distress Signal is like a female Harlem Globetroters cross bred with Chuck Norris (the karate master, not the bands) and Pierce Brosnan, playing Shaq-Fu for SNES without game genie"
